The Challenge
We all know that moment – you open a can of tuna and immediately worry: “Please don’t let the oil spill on my hands…” or “I hope it doesn’t splash on my clothes…” – an everyday experience that became a hassle without a real solution – until now. Caniel, a leading manufacturer of cans in the food industry, approached us seeking product innovation that would create meaningful market differentiation. We chose to focus on solving this challenge familiar to every consumer: how to turn the frustrating moment of draining oil from a tuna can into a simple, clean experience.
The Innovation
We developed the next generation of tuna cans for Caniel – a unique, smart solution for draining oil. The innovation? Instead of the familiar struggle with the can’s tab, we created a bottom with a unique engineered structure that works like a pump: flip the can over, gently press on the bottom and the oil drains out cleanly and in a controlled manner.
This innovative, patent-protected solution is an excellent example of simple innovation that transforms the daily experience of millions of consumers worldwide.
